Pre-Hospital Emergency Medicine

  • I have over 15 years experience of direct 'hands on' clinical care in the pre-hospital environment.

  • I am directly involved in the training and assessment of trainee doctors, paramedics and others working in Pre-Hospital Care.

  • I also have 10 years experience as an examiner for the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, who conduct both the Diploma-level and Fellowship-level examinations in Pre-Hospital Care.

Ambulance Service Clinical Management

My main areas of experience relate to:

  • Use of Decision Support Tools by Paramedics

  • Development & Use of Clinical Pathways

  • Prioritisation and Assessment of Emergency Calls (particularly using the Medical Priority Dispatch System, MPDS)

  • Major Incident Planning and Emergency Preparedness

Motorsport Medicine

Starting as a hobby in 2002, I also have extensive experience providing medical cover for motorsport events throughout the UK, including 5 years as Chief Medical Officer for a major UK circuit & over 15 years providing cover for a major national racing series.
